Esta entrega de la serie Winter Solstice presenta una serie de grabaciones de temática invernal. Además de artistas habituales de Windham Hill como George Winston y Liz Story, hay apariciones de Marion Meadows, Todd Cochran, el teclista de Narada David Arkenstone y el cuarteto de Brian Keane, Michael Manring, Paul McCandless y Lew Soloff. Quizás sorprendentemente, la falta de material de navidad tradicional solo mejora el atractivo de este disco, al igual que las actuaciones de primer nivel. Winter's Solstice Vl es más dinámico y menos apto para desvanecerse en el fondo de una víspera invernal.
